Fire Protection Information

Our Fire Alarm Systems are designed to alert you to an emergency so that you can take action to protect yourself, you employees and the general public. Fire alarms are installed in Offices, Factories, and public buildings, they are a part of our everyday routine but are often overlooked until there is an emergency at which point, they might just save our lives. Fire Alarm Systems are often a regulatory requirement, please contact us to see if your premises is legally required to have a Fire Alarm System on site.

There are two types of Fire Alarm Systems, addressable and conventional systems, which are used nationwide. At RAN FIRE we are happy to supply a system which meets your specific on-site requirements.

The detection principle of an Addressable System is the same as a Conventional System except that each detector is given a set address (usually by means of a dip-switch) and the Control Panel can then determine exactly which detector or call point has initiated the alarm. This system is useful when installed in a multi occupancy site as it will lead you straight to the location of the fire activation.
The Conventional Fire Alarm system is based on an analog electrical system. It is the most common system installed in small offices or premises requiring under twenty detection heads. The main difference is the configuration or the connection of the devices with the main control panel. Price can be a distinguishing factor between the systems, call us now on +353 85 2127409 or 046 954 2402 for your free on site survey to see which system meets your requirements.

Emergency Lighting is one of the most important aspects of any building no matter the size or nature of the business. It is a life safety system and must, by law, be maintained and tested on a regular basis as stated by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

The regulations require that premises possess emergency lighting throughout the building, so that in the event of an emergency, a safe escape is available to all occupants of the building.

The fire alarm standards are I.S.3218:2013+A1:2019 which states a system with under 20 devices requires 6 monthly service or if persons reside overnight it requires a quarterly service. Systems over 20 devices require a quarterly service.

At RAN FIRE we believe that prevention is better than cure and strongly encourage the installation of fire extinguisher to protect, you, your occupants, and your premises. We provide professional fire extinguisher servicing and maintenance. This is an essential part of any fire protection system.

Many clients such as law firms, hospitals and banks will want to avail of a fire suppression system. A fire suppression system operates by extinguishing the fire at source. The benefit to a fire suppression system is containment. It is also a loss prevention measure as it is designed to minimise damage to the source of the fire whilst containing the outbreak.
A leak detection system is designed to detect water in the event of a leak in your premises. The occupant is notified of the detection and therefore can act accordingly and prevent further damage to the area. Many leak detection systems are installed on sites which contain comms rooms. Comms rooms often contain valuable ad irreplaceable equipment and documentation. Leak detection systems have been found to prevent extensive damage to valued equipment and documentation.
